Climate Leader Deborah McNamara Joins ClimateVoice

ClimateVoice is thrilled to announce our new Co-Executive Director, Colorado climate leader Deborah McNamara. Deborah will take on co-leadership of the growing, three-year old non-profit group, expanding and enhancing the team while working alongside founder Bill Weihl. Deborah brings more than twenty years of experience in the non-profit environmental sector to this new role.

“As climate policy action shifts to the states, Deborah brings deep expertise from her senior role at 350 Colorado,” notes Weihl. “Her long resume of accomplishments includes co-founding the Climate Safe Pensions Network with the goal of divesting from fossil fuels.”

“We are excited about the strategic campaign leadership, communications, fundraising, and partnership-building experience Deborah brings with her to the organization,” says ClimateVoice Advisory Board Chair Kathrin Winkler. Deborah also has a background in implementing cross-sector sustainability education and engagement programs, including in the corporate sustainability and employee engagement sphere.

Deborah will co-lead ClimateVoice with Bill Weihl. Among other things, she will help spearhead a strategic new ClimateVoice campaign to be unveiled this spring, serve as a resident expert on state-level policy, and help lead development efforts for this growing organization.

Deborah brings a lifelong commitment to sustainability activism and advocacy, having worked for social change, environmental, and climate justice-focused nonprofits for over 20 years. Her most recent work includes leading climate-focused campaigns targeting fossil fuel finance, promoting climate solutions and enacting strong local climate policy. She also brings 12+ years of experience implementing cross-sector sustainability education and engagement programs, including in the corporate sustainability and employee engagement sphere.

She studied Environmental Policy and Philosophy at Boston University and received a Master’s degree in Environmental Leadership from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
