Our scorecard assessed each companies’ position on the huge climate investments in the 2021 Build Back Better Act – and reported them to the press and public as “Obstructing,” “Cautiously Supporting,” and “Boldly Leading.”
It focused on large climate-positive companies with an InfluenceMap Organization score over 65, indicating generally positive positions on climate policy. (See IM's analysis here).
The 21 companies included were: 3M, Amazon, Apple, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Constellation Energy, Exelon, Google, HP, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Nike, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Tesla, and Walmart.

What Happened
Employee engagement, and powerful media coverage influenced 6 companies to make positive steps or statements endorsing this climate bill.
When the initial bill failed and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act was introduced, ClimateVoice quickly pivoted with a second scorecard, rating companies as “Vocal” or “Silent” on the huge climate investment. In a matter of weeks, four major companies supported the historic bill – and two others joined after passage.
